Demand Studios (also known as Demand Media) are a highly respected and reputable company that have been giving freelance writers the freedom to work and earn a living online from their writing for years.
Demand Studios has a workdesk where you can choose assignments to write for a flat rate fee (usually $15 per 400-500 words) and also articles on your chosen topic that pay revenue share (depending on page views and click through rates).
I remember when I wanted to start writing here because I had heard nothng but good reviews. I applied and got declined, which was pretty heartbreaking. Especially since they say it is just the one shot you get, so make it count.
So, a few months later I sat down, used my alternate email address (not breaking the rules, just wanting to prove my ability!) and filled in a well thought out application form.
The application is a little vigorous. A writing sample must be submitted, along with your writing and work resume (it's best to include your writing experience and any experience relevant to this writing position) as well as a link to some wriitng you have done that best proves your ability.
After just a few hours I received an acceptance email and have been writing for them ever since. U.S and U.K writers can write here. The writing is specifically targeted to American citizens, so they give you a list of the common words that are mixed up in the English and American vocabulary, to avoid rejection.
I enjoy writing for this site. They are well known, reliable and the work written goes to great companies. It's a little annoying having to follow the guidelines so precisely, which can be pretty time consuming at the beginning, but when you are used to it you can write as much as you want.
Think about it... $15 per article, if you do 3 articles an hour (if you're lucky enough to type and write that fast) then you'll earn $45 an hour. PRETTY SWEET.
Payments are every Friday and Sunday so this is the perfect writing job to learn skills and earn money fast. You can join Demand Studios here.
